Book Repair Workshop (FULL - WAITLIST ONLY)

Learn in a hands-on environment the basics of book conservation. In this workshop, Fansler and Harper will start simple and move to more complex repairs.

The instructors will show participants that a book is easily repairable and will take the mystery out of this process, as well as help participants become familiar with both the materials and the processes for book repair.

Activities include tipping-in loose pages, using heat-set tissue to repair paper tears and stabilize documents, repairing joints by using and tearing Japanese tissue, replacing spines by learning how to remove a damaged spine and replacing it with equally suitable material, replacing the end sheets of a book, and repairing paperbacks.

All materials will be provided.

Registration closes February 20. SPACE IS LIMITED AND WILL BE ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS**. Once capacity is reached, you will be added to the waitlist and notified by February 21 if you have been accepted. If you are waitlisted and do not receive a separate email confirming your acceptance and requesting payment, it means unfortunately all seats have been filled. Any registrations not paid by 5pm on February 20 will be considered void and canceled, to allow space for those on the waitlist.
