Annual Meeting

The 40th Annual SNCA Conference will be held in Downtown Raleigh on April 18-19, 2024 at the State Archives Building.

The official theme this year is Looking Back, Looking Forward. Calls for pre-conference and conference proposals can be found below.

Registration information is forthcoming--please check back soon. We can't wait to see you next spring!

Call for Pre-Conference Proposals

Do you have a workshop you would like to share with attendees of the 2024 Society of North Carolina Archivists (SNCA)? If so, please submit your idea to the SNCA Education Committee. These workshops provide a valuable opportunity to share your knowledge and expertise with your colleagues.

SNCA will be offering pre-conference workshops on April 17, 2024, the day before the SNCA Annual Meeting begins. This year, our annual meeting will be taking place in Raleigh, NC on April 18 and 19, 2024. Pre-conference workshops can be 3 hours or less, 4-6 hours, or for a full day (7-8 hours). We plan to host workshops in the NC Museum of History’s conference rooms, but if we have more than 2 workshops simultaneously, we may also use a room in the State Archives for an additional space.

Workshop topics can focus on any area of the archival discipline. Past workshops have focused on specific software tools such as ArchiveSpace, deep dives into parts of the profession such as preservation or digital processing, and larger overviews of topics.

Your abstract should be no more than two hundred and fifty words and should also have a title. Honoraria will be available for $300-$500, depending on the length of the proposed workshop.

To apply, send an email with the subject line “Pre-Conference Workshop” and including the following to Education Chair, Marlena Rose, at barberm@ecu.edu:

Instructor(s) Name(s)

Email Address

Institution(s)

Presentation Title

250-word abstract (to be used to create a session description)

Please submit your workshop application by Friday, January 12, 2024 at 5:00 PM. The Education Committee will make final workshop determinations by the end of January and confirm with each instructor.

Thanks in advance for your submissions!

Marlena Rose, Education Chair, and the Education Committee Members
